Comment s'endormir avec un masque quand on est congestionné ?

How do you fall asleep with a mask when you're congested?

Sleep apnea disrupts sleep for many people, and for those who use a CPAP mask, nasal congestion can make using the mask even more difficult. Here are a few tips to help you breathe easier at night, even with a blocked nose:

  1. Mask seal: The mask seal is essential; without it, your device's humidifier won't provide enough moisture.
  2. Hydrate the air: Maximize the humidity level in your device, without condensation in your mask. This largely depends on the temperature and humidity of your room (if possible, keep it above 20 degrees Celsius). A chamber that's too cold can lead to increased condensation in the mask.
  3. Heated hose: Increase the temperature of your hose to over 27 degrees Celcius.
  4. Clean your sinuses: Use a spray or saline nasal wash before going to bed to clear your airways.
  5. Change position: If you're congested, try sleeping on your back or tilting your head slightly to ease breathing. Using a pillow to support your head and neck can also help clear airways and improve airflow.

If congestion persists, don't hesitate to consult your doctor or respiratory therapist to adjust your treatment.

Take care of yourself and sleep well.
